MC Monica Early Life

Chisom Sylvester Edeh, also known as MC Monica, was born on September 10, 1993, in Nnewi, Anambra State. He was the last child in a household of 10. His roots are in the Igbo ethnic group. His parents were devoted Christians. Taking care of 8 children was not very easy for them. In fact, some days, he did not have anything to eat while growing up.

MC Monica Education

MC Monica's parents valued education and made sure all eight of them got a formal education. Monica attended the St. Stephen Model School. After his common entrance, he went to the Okongwu Model College. While he was in school, he was loved by his teachers and instructors.

When he was 19, MC Monica got admission to study at the prestigious Delta State University. Due to his love for arts, he pursued a career in Fine Arts. His love for his craft can be traced to when he was still a teenager.

His sponsors struggle to finance his education while in school. Things got worse for him because his sponsors failed to respond to his calls to the University. However, his father promised that he would see him through college as long as he was alive. In reality, this was a tough time for the family of MC Monica.

Leaving home to school at the age of 19, was not easy for him. He tried to make sure that he never joined any bad association in school. Even though even though his parents were sending him N5,000 every month he still faced his studies. According to MC Monica, the N5,000 his parents sent to him was not enough for him to pay the bills.

MC Monica Career

While in school, things went from bad to worse for MC Monica. The N5,000 his mother sent was stopped after some months of gaining admission. What would MC Monica do?

In a bid to earn him money, he tried to do different business activities in school. Some of this activities were selling groceries and stationeries.  This business made him famous in school. However, the business was not thriving because some students would purchase items on credits.

Using his popularity, MC Monica then decided to become a comedian. MC Monica recall that he was the most funny student among his classmates in secondary school. According to him, teachers and instructors would invite him to crack jokes for them. MC Monica used this passion to build a name for himself in the University.

At the time, MC Monica bore the name "MC" while in school. To create a unique name he made sure to add the name "Monica" for his stage name. After this, he told event planners around the school environment about his new job as a "comedian".  

His fame grew all around campus as a comedian. Later, MC Monica was invited to perform alongside Yanga Pikin in Delta State. He performed in the show so well that he received commendations around the state.

During his 300 level in school, his roommate in the University squandered his money. In many federal universities, it is accustomed for many to squat in a house with a roommate. This was no different for MC Monica. MC Monica's roommate squandered the money meant for their rent.

MC Monica slept in classrooms in the evening. He would participate in different church tarry services to pass the night. Despite all these conditions, he still found a way to perform at different shows he was booked for.

_MC Monica's final year was one of the most rewarding moments of his life. He bagged several awards for his dedication to the school. Additionally, he also organized his own show in Delta State. This show was known as "Starch Your Teeth". This event was very successful as it had MC Shankara fly down all the way from Lagos.
